After reading law at University of Bristol and qualifying as a barrister, Ian joined Chemical Bank and worked as a lawyer and credit analyst. Ian then transferred to a stockbroking firm as a securities analyst and corporate finance executive. In 1985 Ian started in financial public relations first with Streets Financial, then a founder of Citigate Communications, later Citigate Dewe Rogerson and, then in 2002, Bankside Consultants. Ian left Bankside in July 2008 to become Master of the Girdlers’ Company which he joined as a Liveryman in 1977. Ian is married with two daughters and lives near Cambridge. Ian was elected to the Common Council representing Cornhill in 2013 and re-elected in 2017.
